Environment
In early 2023, the ACRELEC Group defined its “environment standard,” which encompasses all the rules and best practices to be followed at the Group’s sites. This helps to raise awareness among the staff regarding the following themes:
Finally, we calculate the carbon footprint of our production activities each year, considering the six categories (direct emissions, energy, transport, and other indirect emissions). To reduce it, we combine improvement actions at our sites (energy consumption, waste sorting, resource management) with actions throughout the supply chain. For example, we prefer environmentally friendly transportation methods (preferably by boat and train), and we optimize container loading and our packaging. It’s worth noting that the use of air transport is only allowed in exceptional cases. Our improvement actions have led to a 22% reduction in our greenhouse gas emissions for our production activities between 2020 and 2022.
Ecodesign
Since 2021, and in connection with our environmental policy, we strengthened our eco-design approach by carrying out Life Cycle Analyses (LCA) of our products.
Ecodesign is the integration of environmental criteria, quantifiable and measurable, from the design of the ACRELEC products.
The main objective of our approach is to reduce environmental impacts as much as possible throughout the life cycle of a product, while maintaining the same performance. On this way, we are using eco-design software allowing us to calculate the environmental footprint of a project right from its design phase.
The lifecycle of a product is defined by all the stages a product goes through during its life, from the extraction of raw materials for manufacturing, through its production, its use, and up to its end of life (recycling) after being removed from the market.
