CHICAGO, Dec. 6, 2021— Acrelec, a global technology company reinventing the customer experience, today finalized the acquisition of Oklahoma City-based OrderMatic technology. Known for providing drive-in restaurant solutions to enhance ordering journeys for consumers, family-owned OrderMatic partnered with iconic brands like Sonic Drive-In, Pizza-Hut, and Taco Bell for more than half a century.

“For over sixty years, America’s voice has been delivered through OrderMatic audio in restaurants across every state of the USA,” said Paul Crawford, President & CEO of OrderMatic. “We have done this successfully through uncompromising customer service and affordable pricing. Now, we look forward to enhancing our brand with the technological expertise and futuristic thinking that Acrelec has become synonymous with. Our customers will be delighted.”

As part of the acquisition, OrderMatic CEO Paul Crawford and key team members will continue to work alongside Acrelec’s team to enhance OrderMatic Powered By Acrelec.

Founded in 1955, OrderMatic designs and manufactures drive-in and drive-thru-branded next-generation signage, technology solutions, and drive-in products and accessories for quick service restaurants, retail merchants, and sports and entertainment venues. Widely known brands such as Dunkin’, Subway, Sonic, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, A&W, and Whataburger have all used OrderMatic solutions to enhance the customer experience.

Acrelec counts over 80,000 installations around the world in 70 countries and nearly 1,000 employees, including two manufacturing plants and a 150-person software division. They work with iconic brands such as McDonald’s, Dunkin’, Burger King, KFC, and Taco Bell, providing a full ecosystem of technology solutions for drive-thru, self-checkout, kiosk and click and collect.

“Because of our people and their dedication to serve our customers, we have grown into a global leader over the past 20 years,” said Jacques Mangeot, CEO of Acrelec. “But like OrderMatic, we started in a garage. This acquisition makes sense on a business and human level, and we couldn’t be happier to embrace a future of OrderMatic Powered by Acrelec.”

In 2016, Acrelec acquired Pittsburgh-based HyperActive Technologies, a tech innovator in digital displays, order confirmation software and drive-thru service timers offering the first outdoor digital display with LED lighting and Power over Ethernet connectivity. That technology, along with OrderMatic, is part of the growing ecosystem of solutions Acrelec Americas offers restaurants.

“The OrderMatic team and legacy will accelerate Acrelec investment in the U.S. to power Drive-In businesses, following the acquisition of drive-thru expert HyperActive Technologies,” said Thibaud Denolle, Acrelec’s innovation and marketing director. “This serves our goal to become the No. 1 restaurant technology brand in drive-in and drive-thru in the next few years, capitalizing on a complete eco-system of solutions.”

The companies will be working quickly on plans to integrate software and services and elevate audio automation systems to optimize the customer experience.
